Dear Highlands Soccer Club Families,
We are nearing the start of our 2010 season on Sunday, April 18th. Below is necessary information I ask you to please review carefully.
PRACTICE SESSIONS
We will have all of our practice sessions at the new Central Park turf field in the Issaquah Highlands this year. U-5 teams (ages 3, 4) and U-7 teams (ages 5, 6) will practice from 3:00 to 3:45. U-9 teams (ages 7, 8), and U-11/13 teams (ages 9-12) will practice from 4:00 to 5:00. It is very important for families to arrive on time as late arrivals can cause disruptions to the team.
PARKING, RESTROOMS
Please consider walking to the practices. Parking will be limited. The same can be said about the restroom facilities at the field. These two problems will hopefully be resolved in a reasonable amount of time by the City of Issaquah.
ON-FIELD RESTRICTIONS
Per the posted rules, only coaches and players are allowed on the field. Unfortunately, this implies that families need to remain outside the perimeter fence. Knowing this may present a problem for some young children, we have placed the youngest teams (U-5) as close as possible to the fence. Also, no chairs, food, gum or drink (other than water) is allowed on the field by anyone. These rules are said to protect the field’s surface and not risk voiding its warranty.
SCHEDULE
Our schedule for 2010 is:
April 18, 25
May 2, 16, 23
June 6, 13
Sept. 12, 19, 26
Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24
UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION
If you ordered a uniform during the registration period, it should be available for you to pick-up on the field at the first practice on 4/18. If your child is on U-5 or U-7, you can pick-up the uniform at 2:30. U-9 and U-11/13 will pick-up their uniforms at 3:45. Please note that a few of the youth extra small (YXS) uniforms may be delayed from our supplier by a week, perhaps two.
MANDATORY WAIVER FORM
You are required to complete a 2010 waiver form before your children can play on their team. The form can be downloaded at www.hsclub.org/forms.html. The waiver form should be handed-in at the first practice.
TEAMS
Team assignments will be posted by 2:00 pm Friday, April 16 at www.hsclub.org/teams2010.html. When ready, our new Website will include team pages where you can get to know your child’s coaches and learn about our coaching program.
WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
In case of poor weather, parents are responsible to check online for cancellations at 2:00 pm Sundays at www.hsclub.org. If a session is canceled, it cannot be rescheduled.
SNACKS
We ask that each family bring, once or twice during the year, a healthy snack and drink for their team. Please consider bringing sliced fruit or an unsweetened/lightly-sweetened drink. Your team’s head coach will have the snack sign-up sheet at the first practice. We also ask that one parent from each team volunteer to be in charge of coordinating the snack schedule. Snacks are intended for after a practice is finished and needs to be consumed off-field.
SOCCER EQUIPMENT
It is highly recommended that you have suitable soccer shoes (cleats or turf) and shin guards. Each child should have a water bottle with their name clearly written or somehow otherwise identifiable. We will have a very limited number of soccer balls available. You should also have your child bring their own ball. You would need a size 3 ball for 3-6 year olds and size 4 ball for 7-12 year olds.
For questions, contact me at umit@hsclub.org.
Looking forward to seeing you,
Umit Gokce
